Our Story

About The Remote Nurse Blueprint

Built by a nurse, for nurses. The Remote Nurse Blueprint was created to bridge the gap between clinical nursing and the growing field of Utilization Management.

The Mission

Thousands of nurses want to transition into Utilization Management but don't know where to start. The terminology is confusing, the roles are unclear, and most resources assume you already know the basics.

The Remote Nurse Blueprint was built to change that. We break down every aspect of UM — from understanding what a prior authorization actually is, to writing your first approval note, to landing your first remote UM role.

Our goal is simple: give every nurse who wants to work in UM the foundational knowledge, practical tools, and career resources they need to succeed.

Education First

Curriculum designed from real-world UM experience, not just textbooks.

Practical Focus

Everything you learn can be applied immediately in a UM role.

Career-Ready

Training built to help you pass interviews and perform on the job.

Trustworthy

Clear disclaimers, honest guidance, and real support from day one.

What is Utilization Management?

Utilization Management (UM) is the process health plans and insurance companies use to evaluate whether medical services, treatments, or procedures are medically necessary, appropriate, and cost-effective for the patient's condition.

UM nurses review prior authorization requests, conduct concurrent inpatient reviews, and make clinical determinations based on established criteria (such as InterQual or MCG). They communicate with providers, document decisions, and ensure that patients receive the right level of care at the right time.

UM is one of the fastest-growing areas for remote nursing work. It allows nurses to use their clinical knowledge in a non-bedside role, often with flexible schedules and the ability to work from home.
